Established in 1792 and spanning 555 square miles of land, Logan County is the seventh-largest county geographically in Kentucky with a population of 27,048. AirportsLocalThe Logan County Airport is located four (4) miles southeast of Russellville on KY 100. The airport has one asphalt-paved runway in good condition. The primary runway is 4000 feet long by 75 feet wide. It has dusk-to-dawn lights: DUSK-DAWN ACTVT MIRL RY 06/24 - CTAF. It is attended during daylight hours and is open to the public. RegionalThe Bowling Green-Warren County Regional Airport is located 30 miles west in Bowling Green. InternationalThe Nashville International Airport is located within a one (1) hour drive to Nashville, Tennessee. CommunicationsInternet ServiceLogan County now has countywide broadband access. DSL providers are BellSouth for the City of Russellville and vicinity, and Logan Telephone Cooperative for portions of the county. The pumping capacity of the water system is 10 million gallons per day. It has a state-of-the-art membrane filtration system, the only system of its kind in the state of Kentucky. Three of the five elementary/middle schools are award-winning schools. The Russellville Independent School District serves 1,166 students primarily from the City of Russellville at one elementary, one middle, and one high school. PrivateThe Russellville Christian School is a private parochial school serving 50 students in pre-school and kindergarten. The Logan County Home School Association serves 130 students. Post-SecondaryLogan County is served by Western Kentucky University (WKU), located in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Austin Peay State University, located in Clarksville, Tennessee. LifestyleLogan County is a great place to live, work and play! The Shaker Museum at South Union is a recipient of the National Historic Preservation Award. It has several of the original buildings as well as a fine museum of Shaker folklife and material culture, a unique gift shop, and overnight lodgings.
