South Central Kentucky features sports and recreation opportunities for all. There are 64 parks and 18 golf courses in the region. We have the world’s largest cave system and are home to America’s sports car mecca. Boating, fishing, hiking and spelunking are available here, and much more!
Barren River Lake
Near Glasgow, this 10,000-acre lake was created on a historic waterway used by westward pioneers. Nestled in the rolling countryside, Barren River Lake features protected Native American villages and burial sites.
Beech Bend
Discover the fun of an amusement and water park right in the middle of South Central Kentucky. You’ll find the excitement of a dragstrip and stock car raceway, combined with musical shows and events, at Beech Bend, along with a campground that is open 365 days a year. Fun abounds over the 368 acres of beautiful countryside at Kentucky’s #1 family recreation spot.
Cave Systems
You might think having the world’s largest cave system would be enough, but South Central Kentucky offers many more under-earth attractions than just Mammoth Cave. Cave culture and learning activities are plentiful at the Diamond Caverns, Lost River Cave and Valley, and the Hidden River Cave & American Cave Museum.
Bowling Green Ballpark
Home to the Bowling Green Hot Rods, this multi-million-dollar ballpark opened in April 2009. The Ballpark offers a state-of-the-art venue for affordable, family-friendly fun all summer long!The Hot Rods joined the Class A Midwest League in 2010 and are currently affiliated with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. The 2010 season saw more than 235,412 home game tickets sold, for home games at Bowling Green Ballpark, an increase of 2,425 more tickets sold from the 2009 season.
National Corvette Museum
With more than 75 Corvettes, the National Corvette Museum is a 115,000-square-feet tribute to America’s premier sports car that includes everything from mint-condition vintage models to unique prototypes that never made it to production. Unveiled in 2010, a one-of-a-kind theatre features two educational driving simulators within stationary automobiles, giving drivers a virtual experience on the road.
Nolin Lake
Conveniently located near Mammoth Cave, Nolin Lake State Park features the third largest recreational lake in Kentucky. With 5,795 acres, Nolin Lake is a key destination for local and visiting fishermen and boaters.
